I am a freelance Spanish copy editor and translator, I help people and companies communicate in the Spanish language with style through my business www.Spanishwithstyle.com I have always been interested in native cultures, especially the Mayan from my homeland Guatemala. This interest led me to study the Mayan culture and work with a US production company, performing subtitle translations and editing for a movie they were filming about the Mayan culture. I think people need to know more about the Mayan culture, especially about December 21st, 2012, which is thought to be the end of the Mayan Calendar, and the world. This is not accurate, and this along with many other misconceptions, is why I created the Maya-News Blog. The blog presents contemporary news and events related to the indigenous Maya in Central America, highlighting their traditions, culture, human rights issues, archeological and anthropological discoveries, politics, among others. I also highlight the racism and discrimination they suffer on daily bases.

Esta idea no es correcta, la cual junto con otras ideas equivocadas me llevaron a crear el blog de Maya-News. El blog presenta noticias y eventos actuales relacionados con los indígenas Mayas en Centro América, destacando sus tradiciones, cultura, derechos, descubrimientos arqueológicos y antropológicos, política, etc. También se destaca el racismo y la discriminación que sufren diariamente.
